One the fastest paths to self-storage development is the conversion of an existing building that was previously devoted to another use. In fact, there are many empty structures in the world that can be ripe for transformation. The costs can be less than ground-up construction, plus these projects can often be quicker to complete. Furthermore, city officials can be highly motivated to refurbish these properties and give them new life. What developers sometimes find, however, is that conversion candidates come with unused vertical space (think single-story with high ceilings). They surmount this challenge by installing a mezzanine system, effectively creating a new floor. In this time-lapse video, WCL Storage Systems turns a large warehouse in Bude, England, into a thriving three-story facility. Watch and be amazed!
