The Denbeigh, Wales, location of Lock Stock Self-Storage, which operates 22 container-based facilities in the country, is helping a local school restore its garden project after it was vandalized and all the tools were stolen. The company donated compost, flower pots, new garden tools and seeds to Westwood Community Primary School in Flintshire.
The students have already planted a honeysuckle and a banana tree, which were donated from other community members. They plan to grow lettuce, potatoes and strawberries that’ll be incorporated into meals for their classmates.
“The donation from Lock Stock will be put to good use and will get us back up to speed with the garden project after the break-in; and it will also deliver some produce for our dinner ladies to use,” said Lynne Brown, deputy head teacher. “We are out here in all weathers and all seasons. Gardening is a year-round activity, and it's important to get the pupils out in all weathers.”

“I’ve been busy in my own garden, so I know it can be hard work; but it’s also very rewarding as well. At Lock Stock, we like to support local community efforts and charities and this is such an outstanding project, which is bouncing back and not letting the vandals win,” said Lock Stock Area Manager Richard Warner, who delivered the donations. “These are lifetime skills that these young people are learning, which will stand them in good stead in the future, and it teaches them good practical knowledge about the natural world.”
Founded in 1999 by brothers Nick and Shon Powell, Lock Stock offers 4,842 self-storage containers across its properties. The family-operated business also provides moving services through its “Take Stock” van fleet.
