Pink Storage, which operates 19 self-storage locations throughout the United Kingdom, has installed 60,000 individually controlled LED lights at its site in Birmingham, England. Each is programmable, allowing real-time, direct communication with customers and staff, according to a press release.
The technology uses Glediator software and advanced controllers, with each LED functioning as a single pixel to create visual effects for various operations and security functions. The enhanced lighting also improves roadside visibility, helping customers locate the facility more easily when searching for local self-storage options, the release stated.
The new LED system operates through a color-coded interface. The lights are located at the facility entrance, at the roadside portion of the site, and serve multiple functions depending on the situation. Green arrows signal when a gate is opening. A red X is displayed when an unauthorized vehicle attempts to enter, indicating that access is denied. A red and blue flashing sequence is being integrated into the facility’s security system, so if an intruder is detected on site, the alert will be automatically triggered, the release stated.
