Maurice Pogoda, founder and president of Pogoda Cos., which acquires, develops, manages and owns self-storage facilities throughout the Midwest, will be inducted into the Self-Storage Association of Michigan Hall of Fame (SSAM). The honor will take place on Nov. 14 during the association’s annual conference and tradeshow in Detroit, according to a press release.
Pogoda has nearly 40 years of experience in the self-storage industry. His company has brokered more than 90 transactions, totaling more than $325 million in sales. It’s managed or owned nearly 70 facilities, and built or renovated 18 properties, the release stated.
Previously, Pogoda worked as a marketing-brand manager for Lever Brothers in Manhattan, New York, where he oversaw campaigns for various consumer products. He moved to Michigan in 1985 and worked for an income-property brokerage, focusing on multi-family, offices and shopping centers before founding his own business, the source stated.

Pogoda was a founder of SSAM and served as vice president for its initial seven years. He’s also been a member of the Self Storage Association Foundation Board of Governors.
Founded in 1987 and based in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Pogoda Cos. operates more than 65 self-storage facilities comprising 4.5 million square feet in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio. Its properties operate as National Storage Centers.
