All Storage, which operates five self-storage facilities in Texas, opened a new location in Arlington. The property at 7104 S. Cooper St. comprises 135,000 square feet in 927 climate-controlled units. It’ll be managed by Storage Asset Management, an industry management company based in York, Pennsylvania.
Lamar Bost, who owns G&L Milford Self Storage in Milford, Indiana, received permission from the Kosciusko County, Indiana, Board of Zoning Appeals to develop a second site in the city on N. Old County Road 15. The project required an exception and variance for the purpose of allowing storage warehousing in an agricultural district. Bost told the board that his facility has been full for five years and he’s received more than 130 phone calls from customers seeking more space.

Commercial real estate investment firm ACD, which owns BriteLock Storage, opened a new location in Denver after receiving its Certificate of Occupancy. The building at 5595 Federal Blvd. offers more than 700 units, some of which are climate-controlled. This facility represents Britelock’s continued expansion across Colorado. Founded in 2005 by Greg and Jarrett Armstrong, ACD operates eight facilities in Arizona, Colorado and Utah.
Carabetta Storage LLC received unanimous approval from the zoning board of appeals to develop a self-storage facility in Meriden, Connecticut. Plans for the 3.7 acres at 644 Chamberlain Highway call for five single-story, drive-up structures containing 192 units. The site is currently Suburban Marine, which sells, repairs and stores boats.
CrossHarbor Capital Partners, a real estate investment-management firm, and DXD Capital, a self-storage developer and investor, are building a facility in Snohomish, Washington. Plans for 2103 Bickford Ave. include a three-story structure comprising 108,000 square feet in 810 climate-controlled units. Expected to open in about a year, it’ll be managed and branded by real estate investment trust (REIT) Extra Space Storage. Construction is being led by Corstone Contractors LLC, with WaFd Bank providing the construction financing. Based in Denver, DXD is a real estate and private-equity firm that leverages data technology to make opportunistic investments. It focuses exclusively on the self-storage sector. Founded in 1993, CrossHarbor manages $10.7 billion in assets across several investment programs.

Deca Cos. is developing a mixed-use project at 2270 McKinnon Ave. in in San Francisco. The top four stories of the five-story building will comprise 175,000 square feet of self-storage in 1,600 units. The first floor will contain light-industrial space. Once complete, the storage business will be managed and branded by Extra Space. The $45.2 million construction financing was provided by Affinius Capital and Axonic Capital. Founded in 2015, Deca is a real estate development firm with more than 1.7 million square feet under development.
Forum Partners, a global real estate investment and asset-management firm, and Pocket Storage, a United Kingdom-based self-storage owner and operator, opened a facility in Bermondsey, London, in the Biscuit Factory, a mixed-use commercial center. The two-story building at 100 Drummond Road comprises 10,000 square feet in 134 units. Established in 2002, Forum has deployed approximately $7.7 billion of capital across 24 countries and more than 100 investments. Pocket plans to open 72,500 square feet of storage across four centrally located London properties in the coming months.

Here Self Storage opened a new location on the former site of retail store Matalan in Salisbury, England. The facility on Southampton Road comprises 60,000 square feet of climate-controlled space and offers electric-vehicle charging stations. It’ll be managed by Engage Management Services, which oversees 15 self-storage properties across England. Here Self Storage also operates facilities in Loughborough and Northampton, England.
Lock Stock Self-Storage, which operates 29 container-based self-storage facilities in Wales, opened a new facility in Aberystwyth. The 1.2-acre site in Rheidol Retail Park will offer more than 100 containers in a range of sizes. It’ll be managed by Lee Hanson, regional manager for North West and West Wales. Founded in 1999 by brothers Nick and Shon Powell, Lock Stock offers more than 4,500 units. The family-operated business also offers moving services through its “Take Stock” van fleet.
Micah Meredith received a special-use permit from the Sherman, Texas, Municipal Zoning Board to build a self-storage facility on Osborne Street, near Texas State Highway 86. The project will include two buildings containing a total of 75 units. It’s being built in an area zoned C2 Highway Commercial. Meredith, who’s been maintaining the property to bolster the village’s aesthetic appeal, told board members that he’d also consider planting maple trees on the site.
Modern Storage, which operates 10 self-storage facilities in Arkansas, plans to open a new location in Little Rock on Dec. 8. The facility at 2510 Cantrell Road comprises 130,000 square feet in 1,000 climate-controlled units. It also includes a business center and private conference room. Modern Storage operates more than 1.5 million square feet in more than 10,000 units.
Calvin Slaybaugh received permission from the Kosciusko County, Indiana, Board of Zoning Appeals to build a Shed Time self-storage facility in Pierceton. The approval was granted after Slaybaugh agreed to locate the property’s driveway as far east as possible to alleviate traffic concerns. The facility on County Road 200 N. will offer 175 units. Shed Time operates another location in Auburn, Indiana.
Storage Authority LLC, which operates self-storage facilities in two states and has 28 franchises nationwide, opened a new franchise in Glassboro, New Jersey. The facility at 125 Buck Road offers 89,750 square feet in 661 climate-controlled and drive-up units. Sarasota, Florida-based Storage Authority was cofounded by Marc Goodin and Scott House in 2016. Its franchise model offers existing self-storage owners and those looking to enter the industry the chance to build a business under the brand’s operational framework.
Storage Den expanded its facility on Intown Road, Bridge of Don Industrial Estate in Aberdeen, Scotland, adding 36 drive-up units. The business opened in March 2024 with 70 drive-up units and added container storage in February.
An unnamed developer is building Oak Grove Storage in Universal City, Texas. Expected to open this summer, the self-storage facility at 2030 Pat Booker Road will offer 578 climate-controlled units. It’ll be constructed by San Antonio-based Capco General Contracting, which has completed more than 70 million square feet of commercial, industrial and self-storage projects in 32 states since 1985.

4M Self Storage is building a two-story facility in the Whitchurch Business Park in Whitchurch, Shropshire, England. The first phase will open in early 2026 with 100 units, with more units to come later in the year. 4M is a Grocott Group company owned by siblings David and Linda Grocott. They also own a storage facility in Prees Green, England.
Basis Industrial is developing a climate-controlled self-storage facility in Rockville Centre, New York. Expected to open early 2027, the building at 117 N. Long Beach Road will comprise 121,500 square feet . The company purchased the site in 2022 for $5.5 million. The $27 million construction loan was provided by NexBank and NexPoint. The property will be branded and operated by real estate investment trust (REIT) Public Storage Inc. Delray Beach, Florida-based Basis owns more than 5 million square feet of self-storage and industrial real estate, with up to an additional 3 million square feet expected by the end of the year.
CS Bright Place Yonkers LLC is seeking approval to build a six-story self-storage facility on a 0.70-acre lot in Yonkers, New York. If approved, it’ll be branded and managed by REIT CubeSmart. Plans for the $5 million project at 12 Bright Place call for 123,822 square feet of space. An existing woodworking shop and warehouse will be demolished to accommodate the new structure.
Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Mini Storage in Edwardsville, Illinois, received unanimous approval to expand. Plans for the property at 5214 Chain of Rocks Road include a new building comprising 9,000 square feet and another with 7,300 square feet. The facility received expansion approval in 2012, but it expired. It offers climate-controlled and drive-up units.
Inland Real Estate Investment Corp. and Devon Self Storage, a member of The Inland Real Estate Group of Cos. Inc., have converted a light-industrial property in Fraser, Michigan, to self-storage. Developed in 1975, the property at 31475 Utica Road contains a two-story, climate-controlled building and drive-up structures. Together, they comprise 85,330 square feet in 750 units. Devon manages 190 facilities in 31 states.
Manhattan Mini Storage has added 65 commercial units to its facility in Chelsea, New York. The new spaces at 155 W. 29th St. comprise up to 1,000 feet and are designed to help companies manage inventory, supplies and overflow. The facility is owned by The Davis Cos., a commercial real estate firm that specializes in industrial, multi-family, office and self-storage assets. It’s managed by Manhattan Mini and StorageMart, which jointly provide third-party management services to the self-storage industry. Manhattan Mini operates 21 facilities in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens, New York. It was acquired in 2021 by StorageMart, which operates more than 300 properties across Canada, the United Kingdom and the U.S.
Orcas Island Storage opened in Eastsound, Washington. The self-storage facility at 1438 Mount Baker Road offers climate-controlled units. It’s owned by Nancy and Steve Schaefer, who’ve lived in the area for 15 years. They also own Island Storage at 1335 N. Beach Road. Shan Morrison is the company’s general manager.
Scenic View V LLC received final site-plan approval for a self-storage project in Punta Gorda, Florida. Plans for the 10.33 acres at 5221 and 5225 Taylor Road include six structures comprising 137,000 square feet of independently owned condo storage and vehicle-storage space. The company has a similar project under development in Rotonda West, Florida, called Sunset Storage Condos.
Shurgard Self Storage Ltd., the European affiliate of Public Storage, is developing a new location in Teltow, a town in Brandenburg, Germany. Expected to open in late 2026, it’ll offer 72,118 square feet in 1,000 units. Shurgard operates 340 self-storage facilities comprising 1.7 million net rentable square meters in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and the U.K.
Storage King is seeking approval from Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia, to redevelop the Southern Cross Austereo building at 180 St. Kilda Road to self-storage. The company will add two stories to the existing three-story building. The original proposal was vetoed in July, citing traffic and parking concerns. An amended application filed in October addressed those issues. The vacant structure was home to Fox FM and Triple M radio studios, with the rooftop used for concerts until 2010. It was then leased by Victory Offices until 2022. Storage King is a publicly traded, diversified real estate investment trust that operates 205 self-storage facilities in Australia and New Zealand.
Storage Sense, which operates more than 250 self-storage facilities in 21 states, opened a new location in Livonia, Michigan. The multi-story building at 11801 Sears Drive comprises 94,351 square feet in 833 temperature-controlled units. It’ll be managed by Storage Asset Management, a property-management company based in York, Pennsylvania, that oversees the Storage Sense and other brand portfolios.
Town Storage opened in Winter Springs, Florida. The self-storage facility at 307 Tuskawilla Road offers climate-controlled and drive-up units. It’s managed by Personal Mini Storage, which operates 22 facilities across Central Florida.
United Properties Group (UPG) Spaces opened Signature Storage in Crandall, Texas. The single-story building at 550 N. Farm to Market 148 comprises 112,890 square feet in 727 climate-controlled and drive-up units. It was built by Kaufman, Texas-based Fivecoat Construction Co. Tyler, Texas-based UPG is a real estate development and investment company that operates 18 self-storage facilities under multiple brands. Its portfolio comprises more than 1 million net rentable square feet in 8,000 units.
An unnamed applicant received site-plan approval to build Overall Creek Storage on a 4.2-acre parcel in Brentwood, Tennessee. The property at 5418 Franklin Road will offer 15,663 square feet of self-storage space. The project received a special exception from the board of zoning appeals in May 2024 that allows the facility to be built in the office-professional zoning district. The plan was also revised to meet county flood- and stormwater-elevation requirements.
