All Boxed Self Storage, which operates five facilities in Wiltshire, England, is seeking approval to expand its facility in Chippenham. Plans for the property at Bath Road Industrial Estate include demolishing two single-story structures and removing two shipping containers to make way for a four-story building. The planning commission is expected to decide before Nov. 18. All Boxed also operates three locations in Calne and one in Melksham.
U.K. self-storage operator Big Yellow Group PLC purchased a property in London for £10.8 million on which it plans to build a self-storage facility. Plans for the half-acre lot in the Bethnal Green district call for a 68,000-square-foot building. The acquisition is expected to close in 18 months. Founded in 1998, Big Yellow Group operates 109 self-storage locations in the U.K. under the Big Yellow Self Storage and Armadillo brand names, with most concentrated in Greater London and Southeast England.

Brickell Management Group opened Skyline Storage in Nassau, The Bahamas. The 2.1-acre property on Windsor Road is part of the Westfield Commerce Park. It contains five single-story buildings comprising 36,000 square feet in 315 climate-controlled and drive-up units. Headquartered in New Providence, The Bahamas, Brickell has developed more than 1 million square feet of commercial, industrial and residential properties.
Brickwork Self Storage opened in State College, Pennsylvania. The facility at 222 Science Park Road comprises 72,000 square feet in 560 climate-controlled units. Built by Roeshot Construction Co., it’ll be managed by Storage Asset Management, a self-storage consulting and management company headquartered in York, Pennsylvania.
A joint venture between real estate investment firms Declaration Partners and The Renatus Group is building an industrial and self-storage development in Quogue, New York. Plans for the project at 8 Midhampton Ave. call for a two-story facility comprising 92,000 square feet of self-storage in 996 climate-controlled units, plus two industrial buildings comprising 60,000 and 65,000 square feet. The $47.8 million construction loan was provided by investment firms Affinius Capital and Axonic Capital. Washington, D.C.-based Declaration specializes in industrial properties and multi-family housing. It has more than $2 billion in assets under management. New York-based Renatus acquires and redevelops undervalued or undermanaged assets in the hospitality, industrial, office and retail sectors.

DXD Capital, a self-storage developer and investor, opened a new facility in San Antonio that’s managed and branded by real estate investment trust Extra Space Storage Inc. The three-story building at 3747 W. Loop 1604 N. comprises 80,520 net rentable square feet in 873 climate-controlled units. Based in Denver, DXD is a real estate and private-equity firm that leverages data technology to make opportunistic investments. It focuses exclusively on the self-storage sector.
The Flexiss Group, a commercial real estate developer and investment company, is converting a supermarket in Telford, England, into a SureStore self-storage facility. The building at Unit 2 Rampart Way will replace the Telford Food Share Project, a food-sharing company that offered discounts on sustenance. It closed in 2022. Flexiss operates 24 locations under the Scott Storage, The Self Storage Company and SureStore brands. It has 17 sites under development.
Tom Graddy is seeking permission from the St. Louis Board of Adjustment to convert a vacant office building into a $3 million mixed-use project that would include self-storage. Graddy submitted a new design last month for the 50,000-square-foot structure at the corner of Chouteau and Jefferson Avenues, adding five residential lofts and three commercial office spaces. His original proposal was rejected by the board earlier this year following opposition to having only self-storage at a prominent intersection.

The Investment Real Estate Group of Companies (IREGC), which specializes in self-storage brokerage, construction and management, is partnering with Talbot County, Maryland, developers Steve Hershey and Doug James to build a Moove In Self Storage facility in Easton, Maryland. The three-story structure at 7615 Ocean Gateway will comprise 57,350 net rentable square feet in 507 climate-controlled units. It’s scheduled to open next year. IREGC operates more than 90 facilities under the iStorage and Moove In brands across the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Northeast.
Pearl Point Storage opened at 3257 Texas State Highway 35 in Rockport, Texas. It contains four single-story buildings that offer climate-controlled and drive-up storage.
Repmo First Store LLC received permission to expand RepMo Storage in Republic, Missouri. A special-use permit was granted for 715 N. Denver Ave., which offers drive-up units. The site is locally owned and operated.
Samlon Ltd. is developing Hillside Road Storage in Laredo, Texas. Plans for 1109 Hillside Road include a single-story building and a three-story building totaling 66,465 square feet of climate-controlled and drive-up space. The project will be designed by San Antonio-based Dallenbach-Cole Architecture. Construction is scheduled to begin in November and be complete in about a year.
Snapbox Self-Storage opened a new location in New Castle, Pennsylvania. The four-story building at 315 Grove St. comprises 119,050 square feet in 890 climate-controlled units. The facility is on the former site of the Lockley Manufacturing building that was demolished last year. It was built by ARCO/Murray, a commercial design and construction firm that has completed 5,500 projects nationwide Snapbox merged with Go Store It, a subsidiary of Madison Capital Group Holdings, last year. Combined, they operate 189 facilities in 27 states.
Seattle-based Tourbineau Real Estate Partners (TREP) acquired a vacant office building in Silver Spring, Maryland, with plans to convert it into self-storage. The company bought it for $4.25 million from an affiliate of the Newton, Massachusetts-based RMR Group. It’ll now invest $13 million into the 10-story, 96,000-square-foot building at 801 Roeder Road, which has been empty since 2020. The ground floor will be occupied by a community nonprofit. The facility is scheduled to open next year. Self-storage was previously restricted in the downtown area until the Montgomery, Maryland, County Council adopted the Street Activation and Vacancy Elimination Zoning Text Amendment in April, allowing such a project. TREP is a real estate developer, investor and operator specializing in transforming destabilized properties nationwide.
Uplift Development Group, a Fort Collins, Colorado-based real estate development firm specializing in self-storage, is building Uplift Self Storage in Bryan, Texas. The three-story facility at 3168 E. 29th St. will offer 101,351 square feet of climate-controlled space. It’s scheduled to open this spring. Uplift operates 17 facilities in seven states.
Vero West received permission to build a self-storage facility in Novato, California. An office building and two warehouses 501 Davidson St. will be demolished and replaced with three buildings comprising 95,400 square feet in 597 units. The city purchased the 3.2-acre parcel from Frontier Telecommunications in 2022 for $5.8 million. It’ll lease 1.7 acres to Vero West for the storage development. Vero is a fourth-generation family office and real estate development firm.

AAA Vault Storage opened in Orange, Texas. The facility at 9123 Stonewood Drive contains three buildings with drive-up units.
Four Points Enterprises LLC received permission from the Palmdale, California, Planning Commission to build a self-storage project on a 5-acre parcel at the corner of Fallingstar Place and Pearblossom Highway. The facility will include eight buildings comprising 90,663 total square feet in 693 units. Four Points previously operated a swap meet on the site.
GL5 Storage is expected to open this month in Woodchester, Gloucestershire, England. The ground-up development at Unit G Station Road S. will offer interior climate-controlled units. GL5 was founded by Piers Marks.
Hearthfire Holdings, a real estate investment company focused on self-storage, is building a facility in Crest Hill, Illinois, in a joint venture with Condev Land & Development Group. Construction will begin immediately, with completion expected next year. Financed by Midland States Bank, the project supplement’s Hearthfire’s existing Chicago-area portfolio, which includes two operating properties in the southwest suburbs and a newly completed expansion in Crete, Illinois. Hearthfire operates 22 facilities comprising more than 1 million square feet in seven states that are valued at more than $180 million.
InSite Property Group, which operates the SecureSpace Self Storage brand, opened a new location in Seattle. The four-story building at 6305 Corgiat Drive S. comprises 128,888 square feet. It was built by Colvos Construction. Based in Torrance, California, SecureSpace operates 82 facilities in 14 states.
Loc&Stor 24/7, which operates five self-storage facilities in the Philippines, has expanded its location at 54 E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave. in Pasig. The original building opened in 2014, and a second was added two years later. With the third structure, the facility now offers 145,312 square feet. Loc&Stor also operates two sites in Makati and one each in Muntinlupa and Quezon.
Manhattan Mini Storage is converting and expanding an eight-story office building in the Garment District of Manhattan, New York, to self-storage. The structure at 152 W. 36th St. will be extended vertically to 15 stories comprising 75,000 square feet in 1,500 units. It’s scheduled to open this spring. The project was designed by JMN Architecture and developed by Flatiron Equities and Mequity Cos. Flatiron and Mequity purchased the property last September from Falcon Properties for $23.8 million and acquired air rights for the expansion. Manhattan Mini was founded in 1978 as a family-owned business. It operates 34 self-storage facilities in Brooklyn, Long Island, Manhattan and Queens, New York. It was acquired in 2021 by StorageMart, which operates more than 300 self-storage properties across Canada, the United Kingdom and the U.S.
Men On The Move, which offers a moving service and self-storage, is converting the former TTM Technologies building in Huntington, New York, to self-storage. The 8-acre property at 770 Park Ave. will include several single-story, drive-up buildings. Fillerup II LLC owns the site. Men On The Move also operates a storage facility in Woodbury, New York.
Model City Storage is opening in Model City, New York, this month. Phase one at 4612 Model City Road will offer 20 units, with 20 more to be added later. The business is owned by Ron and Tricia Argona, who purchased the vacant property in 2023 in an auction.
Atlanta-based Noble Storage opened a multi-story self-storage building at 2345 Mill St. in Batavia, Illinois. Offering 968 climate-controlled units, the facility is managed and branded by Space Shop Self Storage, which operates more than 50 locations in seven states. Noble Storage is the real estate development arm of Noble Family Enterprises, a privately funded, family-owned business that invests in a broad spectrum of industries including aviation, dressage, insurance, medical, oil and gas, and telecom.
Northwest Building LLC opened a facility in Indio, California, managed and branded by West Coast Self-Storage (WCSS). The property at 83534 Drive Carreon Blvd. offers climate-controlled and drive-up units. It was designed by Magellan Architecture, with civil engineering by Lars Andersen & Associates. Structural engineering was handled by HW Engineering, and landscape architecture was designed by by Colleen M. Nolan. Consolidated Contracting served as the builder. Northwest operates 29 facilities in California, Oregon and Washington. WCSS is a self-storage acquisition, development and property-management firm that oversees more than 150 facilities in the West.
Ward Raynor received permission from the Chautauqua, New York, Town Board to build a boat/RV-storage facility on Beech Hill Road. The property will contain three 48-by-120-foot storage buildings with outdoor vehicle-storage spaces behind them.
Sempre Property Group is seeking zoning approval to build a self-storage facility in Branchburg, New Jersey. Plans for the 6.2-acre vacant parcel at the intersection of Imclone Drive and Route 202 call for a four-story, 25,844-square-foot building. The township zoning board of adjustment is scheduled to review the project at its Sept. 17 meeting. Based in Warren, New Jersey, Sempre develops single-family homes.
Shurgard Self Storage Ltd., the European affiliate of U.S.-based real estate investment trust Public Storage Inc., is opening two new facilities and expanding two existing ones.
The company opened a four-story facility at Gladbacher Strabe 404 in Neuss, Germany. It comprises 62,430 square feet in 800 units.
A new facility in the Bad Godesberg District of Bonn, Germany, will comprise 77,500 square feet in more than 1,000 units. It’s scheduled to open next year.
The existing facility in Hoorn, Netherlands, will get an additional 37,673 square feet in more than 400 units through the conversion of a nearby building. It’s expected to open next year.
The company is seeking permission to expand its facility at 13 Hickman Ave. in Chingford, England, by building 11,409 square feet west of the existing structure. The addition will also include rooftop solar panels and a biodiverse roof.
Shurgard operates 340 self-storage facilities comprising 1.7 million net rentable square meters in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and the U.K.
Smith’s Station Storage opened in Smiths Station, Alabama. The self-storage facility at 1491 County Road 298 offers drive-up units. Smith’s operates another facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, under the Winston Self Storage brand.
Stuf, a company that partners with commercial-property owners to convert unused space into self-storage, has leased space from Vornado Realty Trust in Manhattan, New York. The facility at 1 Park Ave., between 32nd and 33rd Streets, will comprise 11,991 square feet in 110 units. Expected to open this fall, it’ll be the company’s 10th New York City location. Stuf operates more than 25 sites in California, Georgia, Massachusetts, New York, Washington, and Washington, D.C.
VanWest Partners, which operates the ClearHome Self Storage brand, expanded its facility at 6664 Firestone Road in Jacksonville, Florida, to include an additional 28,000 rentable square feet in 144 drive-up units. Originally developed in 2021 and purchased by VanWest in May 2024, the property now contains five single-story buildings comprising 67,570 total net rentable square feet. Headquartered in Denver, VanWest is an investment firm specializing in residential and commercial real estate acquisitions, management and sales. ClearHome operates 41 properties across 15 states.

NationWide Self Storage of Canada Raises More Than $11K for Covenant House Vancouver
