Sunny Side Storage LLC is working with Catalyst Power Holdings LLC to add rooftop and ground-lease solar panels at its two self-storage facilities in Ware, Massachusetts. Once complete, the systems at 313 and 319 Palmer Road will produce 800,000 kWh of clean energy annually to power the sites, with any excess being used to benefit the community, according to a press release.
The state supports business-solar initiatives through programs like Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) and commercial tax incentives, the release stated.
“We're excited to partner with Sunny Side Storage LLC to develop these solar projects and benefit the local community of Ware. Massachusetts provides businesses with excellent opportunities to make an easy decision for the common good through the updated SMART program,” said Gabriel Phillips, CEO of Catalyst Power. “Adding renewables to the generation stack reduces power prices for everyone. Local businesses in Massachusetts can host solar to promote a healthier, more cost-effective energy environment for everyone and get paid to do so.”
